Senior Medical Radiographer, Healthcare Leader, Professional Association Governance & Strategic Partnerships
Sidney N. Njau is a Kenyan Senior Medical Radiographer, healthcare leader, and professional association governance practitioner with extensive experience in clinical radiography, medical imaging, healthcare industry engagement, strategic partnerships, business development, mentorship, and professional and community leadership.
After qualifying from Kenya Medical Training College ( KMTC), as a General Radiographer Practitioner , he began his clinical career in 2008 at The Nairobi Hospital, where he developed comprehensive expertise in diagnostic medical imaging and progressed to the position of Senior Medical Radiographer. His clinical background spans a broad range of diagnostic imaging services and exposure to advanced imaging modalities, providing a strong foundation in patient-centred care and the evolving technological demands of modern radiology practice.
Sidney later transitioned into the healthcare industry, working with Surgipharm Limited and GE Healthcare Life Sciences, and subsequently IQVIA East Africa, where he contributed to healthcare solutions, pharmaceutical diagnostics, strategic account management, business development, and stakeholder engagement. This experience strengthened his expertise at the intersection of healthcare delivery, technology, industry partnerships, and sustainable health systems.
He is currently a final-year candidate pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Radiography at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), and continues to advance his professional development in radiography, medical imaging, healthcare leadership, and emerging technologies in diagnostic imaging.
Sidney serves as the National Honorary Treasurer of the Society of Radiography in Kenya (SORK) and is a member of the SORK Council. In this capacity, he provides leadership in financial stewardship, governance, strategic planning, and initiatives aimed at strengthening and advancing the radiography profession in Kenya. SORK recognizes him as part of its national council leadership in the role of Honorary Treasurer.
He has also played a significant role in the Pan African Congress of Radiology and Imaging (PACORI 2025), where he served as Chair of the Finance and Resource Mobilization Committee. His contribution to the congress reflects his expertise in financial management, resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and scientific event planning.
Sidney is also the founder of the MWAMKO MPYA Movement, and is passionate about professional development, mentorship, ethical leadership, innovation, and the strengthening of healthcare systems. He actively engages with students and young professionals, supporting the development of both clinical competence and leadership capacity within the radiography profession. He advocates for leadership that constructively challenges systems to drive meaningful growth and transformation.
His professional interests include medical imaging, healthcare technology, radiopharmaceuticals and molecular imaging, health systems strengthening, professional governance, strategic partnerships, workforce development, and sustainable healthcare delivery.
Through his combined clinical, industry, and professional leadership experience, Sidney advocates for a radiography profession that is innovative, accountable, patient-centred, and increasingly influential in shaping the future of healthcare in Kenya and across Africa.
He is particularly committed to strengthening collaboration among radiographers, radiologists, clinicians, academia, industry, regulators, and other healthcare stakeholders to enhance imaging services, professional practice, and patient outcomes.
Sidney is part of the leadership and organizational team contributing to RASCO 2026, the Biennial Radiographers Scientific Conference organized by the Society of Radiography in Kenya. RASCO 2026 aims to advance dialogue on emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, innovation, leadership, workforce development, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration in radiography and medical imaging. He brings strong expertise in the organization and execution of scientific conferences such as RASCO.
